A CLOSER LOOK AT OUR TACTICAL POSITIONING TARGETS
Each day, Meeder analyzes and ranks over 70 different factors from our short, intermediate, and long-term models. The dynamic statistical model incorporates factors covering macroeconomic, fundamental, trends and technical analysis to estimate the potential reward and marketplace risk of the equity markets. The Meeder Spectrum, Muirfield, Balanced, Moderate Allocation, and Conservative Allocation funds utilize this strategy for the Defensive Equity portion of their portfolios. The Defensive Equity Strategy guides the allocation of each fund’s equity sleeve and the actual proportion of equity investments in any fund will vary depending on the investment objectives of the fund.

QUICK TAKE
The intermediate-term model is at its best possible reading. AAII bearish investor sentiment remains in the top 1% of all reportings since it began in 1987. Newsletter sentiment from short-term market timers is also in the top 3% of reportings since it began in 1985.  These bearish indicators historically occur near market bottoms and are a reason for optimism from a contrarian perspective.

With equity and bond market RISK being slightly above average and derivatives market RISK being below average, the RISK portion of the model is neutral.

Elevated valuations and interest rates continue to weigh on the long-term model.  Long-term trends are also a concern largely due to worsening market breadth as of late.
